What a sweet little girl! She is so quiet and gentle; very eager to learn type of person. Both of her parents have also played instruments and they are very supportive of her. She has one older brother? She is definitely a beginner so I used the first lesson as a posture/bow hold lesson. Yay!

Lesson Plans

10/21/05

First lesson at her home for 30 minutes ($25)
Using Suzuki exercises, we practiced the bow hold and resting positions. Gave her a strict practice routine.

Basically used this handout as guide.

10/28/05

Review bow grip (looked better but still needs to adjust constantly).
Arms get tired easily (need to practice longer everyday)
Tree-branch analogy with posture, hold violin with left arm support and count, repeat everyday.
Mississippi hot dog rhythm on all strings (needs to focus on straight bows, hold elbow forward)
Tune-A-Day: worked on open strings and string crossings with "stop" method.

11/11/05

Bow grip review, but she is looking better. Still needs time to reform her hand (her hands get sweaty)

11/17/05

She cancelled. Grrrrr.

12/8/05

So it has been a while since I've seen her and of course, she did not practice due to her family moving and school work, etc. So we reviewed the bow grip and the tree branch and Mississippi Hotdog with elbows. I think she needs regular lessons on a weekly basis because she completely forgot her rhythm and how to play/read notes (open strings). But this was the last lesson before the holidays so I gave her some theory and the same pages in a Tune-A-Day.
